Meet The Artist!

Morning! You can call me Kakau, and welcome to my comfy hideaway!

I'm a 22-year-old, self-taught brazilian artist who explores different artistic mediums as a way to express myself, bringing to reality my simple yet complex imagination and worldview.

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree, or Licenciatura em Arte Visuais degree, but I'm currently unable to pursue a teaching career due to my mental health. To be honest, I'm not even sure if I'll ever work as a teacher someday.

While I do both digital and tradicional art, I have a strong preference for the latter. I primarily use it as a hobby and a way to get to know myself better, due to the fact that physical materials allows me to connect and communicate with my inner self more easily.

My favorite art supplies are colored pencils, crayons and watercolors, though I also enjoy working with handcrafts and origami. I have a strong fondness for children's book illustrations, specially for its use of details, textures, colors, and the unique way they communicate through visual language.

Beyond visual art, I express myself through writing as well. Along the way, I've built up a small collection of original characters, some from my own worlds and others from existing franchises.

My creative and visual repertoire is incredibly diverse, after all, I tend to immerse myself into a all kind of subjects like fantasy, science, horror, history, and non-fiction. Whether it’s through books, films, animations, or games, I consume any content that allows me to expand my knowledge and gain new perspectives.

As my art style tends to be somewhat inconsistent, my signature, which consists of the abbreviation of my name, also know as KaK, is the easiest way to identify my drawings, since it has remained the exact same for many years and can be found on all of them.
However, a watermark can now also be found on my more elaborate drawings, which consists of a kangaroo holding a sunflower with the name Kakauguru right below.
